Mr. Wayne Newton, age 77, a resident of Kinsey, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness.


Private graveside services were held Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.


Mr. Newton was born in Dothan on August 14, 1940 to Chester and Mildred Butler Newton.  He was a 1958 graduate of Houston County High School.  Mr. Newton was a minister and a member of Webb United Methodist Church. 


He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Minnie Rogers.


Survivors include his wife of 59 years Opthelia Hodges Newton, 2 daughters Hope Gunn (Jeff) and Faith Bolton (Jerry) both of Kinsey; a brother Liddell Newton (Julia) of Kinsey; a sister Majorie Newton of Kinsey; 6 grandchildren Hannah Timberlake (Matthew), Rebekah Lunsford (Joseph), Sarah Dworek (Greg), Noah Bolton, Samuel Bolton and Ahna Bolton.


Mr. Newton’s desire is for all people to seek and love the Lord with all their heart, soul and mind.
