William “Bill” Benjamin Teal of Hartford passed away Monday, September 5, 2016. He was 74.


Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford with Bro. Shawn Crosby and longtime friend Frank Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford.


The family specifically request flowers be omitted and donations be made to Hartford Rescue Squad.


Bill was a Charter Member of the Hartford Rescue Squad. He served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He also worked with the City of Hartford Fire Department and also worked with the Hartford Police Department. Bill was also a member of the Free and Accepted Mason’s. Bill drove a truck for many years before he retired.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel “Ben” and Sara G. Sullivan Teal; brother, James “Jimmy” D. Teal; grandson, John MacKenzie Teal; mother of his children, Cathren Teal; step-mother, May Belle Teal; special friend, Shirley Alexson.


Survivors include his son, John (Edie) Teal of Newnan, GA.; daughter, Deni (Robby) Cotton of Hartford; grandchildren, Alex Teal, Katie Teal, Rebecca Teal, and MacKenzie Teal, all of Newnan, GA., Cayden Hess, Jaxon Hess, and Callie Cotton, all of Hartford; sister, Linda K. Ammons of Cheraw, SC.; sister-in-law, Linda Jo Teal of Wallace, SC.; special friends, Ralph and Leslee Nace, Dale and Jack, all of Wallace, SC.; several nieces and nephews.


The family wishes to express their gratitude to his caregivers, Linda Mishoe, Sharon Smith, and Julie Marques; the staff of Gentiva Hospice, and Glenda Coleman, Amy Giersberg, and Karen Carroll.
