I am a certified first grade teacher at a local elementary school. This summer I will be organizing a summer reading program called SMART Learning. SMART Learning is a 5-week summer reading program for students who will enter kindergarten, first, or second grade next year. It is designed to help students master reading skills and to help students who are accustomed to success stay focused in reading for the start of the coming year. The students will be introduced and guided through the first five weeks of their upcoming school year's reading curriculum in small groups (no more than six children per group), Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 3 hours a day. The cost of this 5-week program is only $160.00. That averages to around $5.00/hour! The deadline for registration is Sunday, April 1, 2012 (no money is due at that time).
