Headland Wins First 3 in Shootout in the Sticks Tournament in Wicksburg

Headland won Wicksburg's "Shootout in the Sticks" softball tournament Saturday. Headland was 4-0 in the event. In game 1, Headland beat Abbeville 11-0 behind Hannah Howell's 3 hit, six strikeout performance. Katie-Beth Drew was 2-2 with 3 RBI's, including her first home run of the season. Desiree Taylor, Brianna Skipper, Jaycie Walker, Claire Bradshaw & Caroline Singleton all had hits to lead the offensive onslaught. In game 2, Headland defeated Houston Academy 4-2 behind the pitching performances of Howell (3-0) & Jordan Watson (2 saves). Desiree Taylor went 2 for 2 to lead the offense. In Game 3, Headland beat Wicksburg 7-5. Katie Beth Drew got her 2nd win of the season and added a home run at the plate to help Headland's cause. Hannah Howell had a hit and 2 RBI's. Jordan Watson, Desiree Taylor, Jaycie Walker, Claire Bradshaw, and Caroline Singleton all added hits. Headland would play Carroll in game 4 to clinch the tournament ti tle.

Correction, the game 3 score was Headland 8 & Wicksburg 4. We would like to thank everyone in Wicksburg for their hospitality and for running a first class event. We enjoyed participating in this event and would like to do so in the future. Glad we did not get blown away last week and were able to come back this weekend and get the game in.
