DOTHAN: Showing how things roll in emergency services:
9:43 PM Cowarts - Medical Call on Butler Court - Ashford Rescue
11:01 PM Fire Alarm - 475 West Main Street - Dothan
11:54 PM Wicksburg Fire - Rescue - Medical Call - Sandbed Road -
11:55 PM. Medical Alarm on Wentworth Drive, Dothan.
01:35 AM. Structure Fire on Scott Road, Dothan.
01:38 AM. Cottonwood Rescue - Medical Call on Bryant Street in Cottonwood.
01:44 AM. Medical Call Whiddon Street - Dothan.
01:48 AM. Suicide Attempt in Dothan.
01:56 AM. Medical Alarm 342 S.St. Andrews Street, Dothan.
See how is gets still, and then all at once, while most everyone is asleep, the 911 center is OPEN AND TAKING CALLS, and then all at once, seems someone flips the switch and things happen.
Pilcher Ambulance, a private business, has rolled ambulance crews to six calls from 11:00 PM until 01:56 AM, and with only one patient treated and loaded into ambulance for transport To the hospital. So two persons crew, Pilcher dispatch staff and ambulances rolled to 911 calls for FREE for five or six calls ... and a question that can not be asked, did the patient transported have any insurance. Once arrived at the hospital that question will be asked, but not before transport and arrival at the hospital.
Insurance questions and ability to pay is not a determining factor in transport services being rendered from any EMS provider. If no insurance and patient does not have the ability to pay, then some will turn EMS call over to collection agency and some write it off as a loss.
Not that RSN is advocating for people to be sick or injured, but just demonstrating how emergency services work. Calm to rapid developments.
This is not a demonstration of how law enforcement works. Law Enforcement Officers are dispatched to each of the above described calls, in addition, they have responded to calls where EMS or fire is not required. Law Enforcement have their own calls in addition to those listed above.
One new Dothan Police Officer, who has been a law enforcement officer for several years and worked for three other agencies … he recently told me he has written more reports in the few months at Dothan Police then he has in his law enforcement tenure through three other agencies. Shows how busy Dothan Police Department is and reports generated. And for each report, a call came into or was handled in some form form the 911 Center.
