DOTHAN:     It was through visions of Southeast Health CEO Ron Owens and the Southeast Health Board of Directors several years ago that ACOM was a vision.

CEO Ron Owens and the men and women of Southeast Health Board of Directors, those under fire now from the Houston County Commission Chairman and Houston County Commission, that ACOM vision was placed into a plan. Then that plan was worked out and became a reality.

You hear the Houston County Commission talk about the 4 mills property tax paid to Southeast Health; the 4 mills property tax was passed by the registered voters in 1949, part of that 4 mills goes to fund ACOM.

ACOM - Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Part of Southeast Health.

Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) is proud to be fully accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association. COCA, recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE), is the sole accrediting agency for predoctoral osteopathic medical education. This accreditation underscores our dedication to delivering exceptional educational programs that meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.

On April 6, 2017, ACOM was granted full accreditation by COCA, a significant milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to upholding the established standards of osteopathic medical education.

Furthermore, on December 13, 2018, COCA granted its approval to ACOM’s request for a substantive change, specifically for a planned class size increase. This pivotal approval has enabled us to expand our matriculating class size to accommodate up to 210 students. This growth not only demonstrates our dedication to meeting the increasing demand for osteopathic medical education but also signifies our commitment to making a profound impact on the physician workforce and enhancing access to high-quality medical services.

We are also pleased to share that ACOM is also licensed as an Osteopathic Medical School to confer the degree of Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine by the Alabama Community College System, Private School Licensure Division. This licensing demonstrates our compliance with the requirements set by the division, allowing us to provide comprehensive education in the field of osteopathic medicine.

Moreover, we adhere to the City of Dothan’s requirement for yearly licensure, ensuring that we operate responsibly as a business within the city.

These esteemed credentials and licensures highlight our dedication to excellence and our continuous efforts to provide a superior learning environment for our students.

CLICK FOR VIRTUAL TOUR OF ACOM

Since 2017, 1247 students have graduated from ACOM. There has been a 99% residency placement for the class of 2024. Have 3,792 applications for the class of 2024.

All of this in Dothan Alabama, within 4 miles or less of Ross Clark Circle off Highway 84 East.

Clinics in Ashford and Taylor to serve people with medical needs.

And all of this began with the vision of Southeast Health CEO Ron Owens and the men and women of the Southeast Health Board. If you have never seen it, click the virtual tour or ride out East Main outside the Circle, make a left turn before Cowarts Road, and ride into the GEM OF MEDICAL TRAINING in Dothan, Alabama.

This is one example of why Local Amendment 1 needs your NO vote. Dreams and visions like this do not happen with elected people. Most especially those with self serving ego who are on a power trip such as Houston County Commission Chairman and members of the Houston County Commission.

NOTE:   This article and information did not come from anyone with Southeast Health. It came from research of RSN. But we owe a great tribute to Ron Owens and the men and women who serve on the Southeast Health Board.
