JACKSON COUNTY FL: 08:56 AM Jackson County Florida Sheriff Department Deputies were "forced" into a situation this morning that no law enforcement officer ever wants to be forced into.
SUSPECT DEAD AFTER OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
On Monday, November 4, around 5:45 a.m., Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Wonder Road in reference to a suspicious person walking around someone’s yard armed with a rifle.
Three deputies immediately responded and attempted to de-escalate the situation, eventually using less lethal force on the suspect.
At that time, the suspect raised his rifle at deputies. Fearing for their lives and the safety of others, deputies used deadly force to take down the suspect.
Deputies immediately began life saving measures. All deputies involved are unharmed, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation has now been turned over to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
