COTTONDALE FL (JACKSON COUNTY):    Today Jackson County Fire - Rescue, Jackson County Sheriff Department, Florida Highway Patrol responded to an apparent industrial accident in the Cottondale Florida area.


UNCONFIRMED by law enforcement, the reports are a Graceville Florida man was working at Enviva Pellets in Cottondale. The business is located at 2500 Green Circle Parkway in Cottondale.


An employee is reported to have gotten caught by a conveyor belt and dragged into the pellet machine. The equipment is reported to have dragged the man into the machine and into the heat element which is UNOFFICIALLY reported to operate at a 1200 degree temperature.


The employee was deceased on the scene.


The Cottondale Florida plant began production in 2008 and was acquired by Enviva in 2015. It has an annual permitted production capacity of 780,000 metric tons.


Exactly what the plant does other than manufacture some type of pellets is unknown. The Industrial accident is being investigated.
