Related to this body that was found believed to be a murder victim from Florida, the suspect apparently traveled to Saraland Alabama, near Mobile. The United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force encountered the suspect. When encountered the suspect made a conscious decision not to surrender and resulted in forcing the United States Marshals Service to using deadly physical force. No law enforcement officers were reported injured. The suspect survived and was transported to the hospital under heavy law enforcement guard where he was treated for his injuries.
SARALAND, Ala. (WPMI) — Saraland Police Chief J.C. West says the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located a homicide suspect out of Florida and shot him in the parking lot of a shopping center on Saraland Loop off Celeste Road Thursday afternoon. The suspect was taken to the hospital to be treated. West says the task force was conducting surveillance on the suspect in Satsuma and entered the Saraland jurisdiction. A witness says she saw an undercover SUV hit the suspect’s white truck.
“Then a couple seconds later, all you hear are gunshots,” said Stephanie Ricker.
It's unclear if the suspect fired shots at officers.
West says no officers or bystanders were injured. West says ALEA is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
