DOTHAN: 12:38 PM Dothan 911 dispatched a structure fire at 700 East Cottonwood Road, Laurel Oaks.
Dothan 911 reported to responding units smoke from the washer and dryer.
12:41 PM Dothan Fire Engine 4 ( Southside ) arrived on the scene. On arrival Engine 4 reported nothing visible.
12:42 PM Deputy Fire Chief Pete Webb arrived on the scene.
12:44 PM Dothan Fire Engine 1 ( Central ) arrived on the scene.
12:45 PM Dothan Fire Truck 1 ( Central ) arrived on the scene.
12:45 PM Dothan Fire Engine 4 reported no fire, smoke only visble from laundry room. Dothan Fire Engine 4 advised that engine could handle and all units could return to service.
12:46 PM Dothan Fire Engine 5 ( Eastside ), Dothan Fire Engine 10 ( West Main ), Rehab Truck, Pilcher Ambulance all returned to service. Battalion Chief 1 ( Central ) on scene and returns to service.
You respond based on what is called into 911 and the handle the worse case until someone is on the scene and gives a factual update of what is actually going on. You NEVER wait until someone gets on the scene and determines what is actually going on and then roll resources.
That is why a large response. And Laurel Oaks is a center that houses many juveniles so there is a large capacity of people in the center. And had this been an actual fire then other immediate resources would have been required.
Dothan Police also responded.
12:50 PM All units back in service, to include Engine 4 and Deputy Fire Chief Pete Webb.
