HOUSTON COUNTY:    Recently D3 Houston County Commissioner/Houston County Sheriff Sergeant Ricky Herring produced a video about the amendment on the November 5th ballot to change the appointment process to the Southeast Health Board of Directors.


In the video D3 Herring, when fact checked, did not state the truth in some areas.


There was a conversation with D3 Herring and then current Southeast Health Board Member Taylor Knight. The board wanted a current board member to remain on the board. Herring wanted Steve Hicks on the board.


Tyalor Knight, being a man of integrity, said he would resign to allow Herring to appoint Steve Hicks and allow the current board member to be re-appointed. It was "implied" in the conversation that would happen.


A man of his word, Taylor Knight resigned. D3 Herring appointed Steve Hicks. While D3 Herring "implied" he would re-appoint Lance Shephard to the board. But D3 Herring did not and appointed Brownie Browning instead of Shephard.


Brownie Browning, as is Taylor Knight, is a respected businessman. Both are men of integrity. Knowing D3 Ricky Herring, and based on information RSN has, D3 Herring recorded that conversation and a recent conversation with Southeast Health Board Chairman Chester Sowell.


D3 Ricky Herring - RELEASE THE TAPES.  Again, RELEASE THE TAPES. Your refusal and failure to release the tapes will indicate you have not been truthful and a liar.


The Houston County Commission Chairman and Houston County Commissioners wanting to change the appointment process to the Southeast Health authority is a power grab of the Houston County Commission. Their motives are not based on truth, honesty and integrity, but a mere power grab. And it would be dangerous to vote yes on this change under this current Chairman and Commission.


Since 1977 I have been involved with the Houston County Commission. My beginning, Nathan Mathis was Houston County Commission Chairman. And the current commissioners are the WORST that I have ever seen.


Brownie Browning and Taylor Knight both have in their yards signs VOTE NO AMENDMENT 1. This is the amendment to change the appointment process. And I take their word over the Houston County Commission Chairman and Commissioners any day.


I could say more, but will not. But based on D3 Herring's "implied" response and Taylor Knight resigning, was a play on words that he had no intentions of doing what he "implied".


IN THE END ... I am not bringing the church into it, but it is what it is. Ricky Herring is/was a Deacon at Memphis Baptist Church. After 36 years that I attended Memphis Baptist Church, about 30 of those doing the sound, Ricky Herring was responsible for me leaving Memphis Baptist Church. Herring is reported to have even stated in a Deacon meeting he is the reason I left Memphis Baptist Church.


Also, Taylor Knight and Brownie Browning attend Memphis Baptist Church. And they do not support the Houston County Commission amendment to change the appointment process.


D3 Ricky Herring is all about power and attempts to show he has power. This power grab is not about the right thing to do.
