DOTHAN:    At 4 PM today Mayor Mark Saliba, Associate Commissioners Kevin Dorsey, Aristotle Kirkland, John Ferguson, Gantt Pierce and David Crutchfield met in a special called meeting.

D3 Commissioner Bradley Bedwell was not in attendance.

Dothan City Manager Kevin Cowper was present for the meeting.

The purpose of the two minute meeting was to name Assistant City Manager Randy Morris the Interiem City Manager effective May 1, 2024.

The current City Manager Kevin Cowper contract runs through the end of April 2024. He will remain the City Manager until then. 

Kevin Cowper WAS NOT FIRED. His contract expires the last day of April and the four commissioners, Dorsey, Kirkland, Ferguson and Pierce voted against re-newal of his contract.

Only D6 Commissioner David Crutchfield had respect enough to thank Mr. Cowper for his time and what he has done as City Manager of Dothan. Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba has talked with Mr. Cowper.

But not one of the Commissioners, Kevin Dorsey, Aristotle Kirkland, John Ferguson or Gantt Pierce bothered to look at Mr. Cowper or thank him for his service to Dothan.

These four Dothan Commissioners have just set Dothan back about 5 years. And the manner they have handled it, not one would want that done to them. Hope they feel good about themselves and election time I trust the voters to do the same to each of them.
