FROM STEVE WISE
FORMALLY FROM DOTHAN
I don't live in Dothan anymore, and some will argue that I don't have a dog in the hunt over appointments to the Southeast Health board. But I value my opinion enough to foist it on my friends, so here I go...
Southeast Health is a fantastic medical system in which I worked for 22 years, and i saw the dedication of all involved, including the board members. Hopefully, the citizens of the Wiregrass understand that the medical care available to them at Southeast Health is some of the best there is. I live in Houston now, and find that the bright lights of the big city just illuminate the fact that our hospitals are often more interested in the bottom line than in providing the quality of care we provided at Southeast. That didn't happen in a vacuum. Many times I was asked by board members what I thought was best for Southeast and for Dothan. Board members were dedicated and engaged. If I ever meet a board member in Houston, I will let you know how they compare. The system is a testament to how the process works, and you are usually a fool if you think you can make Grandma's pie better than Grandma. I admittedly don't know all the details of the ongoing hospital drama, but I know some of the characters quite well. Dr. Donavon Wewers was a partner of mine for years, and I have eaten 1000 breakfasts with Walter Young. They are 2 of the most honest and respectable people I know. If you can't say that about your source of information, like as not it is MISinformation. If I were looking for the right direction for Southeast, I would start by listening to them.
