PIKE COUNTY and HEADLAND, ALABAMA: Per the Pike County Athletics website and the RAM NATION Facebook page, the Alabama High School Athletics Association has suspended all football operations at Pike County High School and Headland High School due to the events of fighting on the football field during Friday night’s game.
The Pike County Athletics website also stated that all homecoming events are also currently on pause. They said they WILL, however, continue with dress up days for homecoming this week at the school. They asked that everyone please stay tuned for additional announcements that may come later during the week.
As for Headland, it said all Headland High School operations are suspended until further notice, and that included middle school and JV football operations. They also said any updates will be communicated as soon as possible.
There are two sides to every story, and many people have mixed emotions about all of this.
It is sad, however, that now the whole student body at Pike County has to suffer and not have a homecoming due to football players fighting. Now, the whole school is without the fun.
It is also sad that now, the younger football players at Headland cannot play football due to the varsity players’ incident on Friday night. The Headland Facebook page stated this was all per normal AHSAA procedures.
We will post updates as they become available. Please see the below photos.
