DOTHAN—The Southeast Health Foundation’s Champions of Hope is one of Dothan’s most anticipated annual events—take part to join the fight against cancer.

The family-friendly and pet-friendly event is on Saturday, October 19 at The Plant, the former Coca-Cola factory in downtown Dothan.

The festivities begin on Friday with the Celebration of Light at The Plant to honor cancer survivors and remember those lost. You can dedicate a luminaria in honor or memory of a cancer survivor or a loved one you’ve lost to cancer. Enjoy food, music and fellowship. Gates open at 4 p.m., and the event begins 7 p.m. You can also pick up early registration packets Friday.

Continuing on Saturday, join the fight against cancer through downtown Dothan with a 5K/10K, or the non-competitive Molly’s Mile spirit walk.

While online registration is now closed, you can still register for Saturday’s events at the Celebration of Light on Friday or at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.  Registration is $30. Registrants must be at least 10 years old to take part in the 5K/10K, but supporters of all ages can join Molly’s Mile Spirit Walk, and there will be plenty of activities for children.

Your dogs can also enjoy treats at the Paws Fur Hope Hydration Station and the "Best Dressed Dog" contest, sponsored by Wags and Whiskers. Dogs should be friendly with other dogs, children and adults, and they must be kept on a leash.

The doors open at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, and the 5K/10K will begin at 8 a.m. Those taking part in the 5K/10K should be able to complete either course before 10 a.m.

Commemorative t-shirts and medals will be available for participants, along with roving entertainment, family activities, local vendors and inspiring speakers.

This year’s theme is "Let’s Tackle Cancer!" Embrace the spirit of football by wearing your favorite team’s attire, or dress in colors associated with the type of cancer that has affected your life.

Refer to the image below for parking information, as there is no parking at The Plant.
