COVINGTON COUNTY—Covington County is under a burn ban, according to the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) and the Covington County Sheriff's Office.

The burn ban is in effect until November 25, but the AFC could extend the dates depending on the weather.

Violating the burn ban could result in a $100-$500 fine.

Dead pine trees from last year's drought and a southern pine beetle outbreak can contribute to fire intensity, along with higher temperatures and lower precipitation.

Full list of Alabama counties under burn ban:

Baldwin, Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Crenshaw, Conecuh, Covington, Dallas, Escambia, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Limestone, Lowndes, Jackson, Madison, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Pickens, Sumter, and Washington
