The newest drought monitor shows most of the Wiregrass (Houston, Dale, Henry counties) in a moderate drought, while portions of the western Wiregrass (Covington County, part of Geneva County, most of Coffee County) under severe drought.

The new drought map was released Thursday.

Despite recent showers, the rain has not been enough to significantly reduce drought conditions.

All Alabama counties are under a Fire Danger Advisory; while this is not explicitly a burn ban, officials at the Alabama Forestry Commission recommend not burning during this time due to dry conditions.

However, Covington County is currently under a burn ban until Nov. 25.
