HOUSTON COUNTY:  Today members of the Houston County Commission looked into the cameras and lied straight to the citizen’s faces across Houston County.

D3 Houston County Commissioner/Houston County Sheriff Sgt. Ricky Herring is on a path to split Memphis Baptist Church. Herring was not at the press conference or Commission Meeting today, but his actions and not telling the truth are unacceptable. He is a sitting Deacon at Memphis Baptist Church. And two others, Taylor Knight and Brownie Browning, oppose changing the laws on the appointment to the Southeast Health Board.

And today, on WDIG AM 1450 Talk Radio with Larry McKee, Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe called Taylor Knight a liar. Knight resigned the Healthcare Board two years ago to stop the rhetoric. Knight is a current sitting deacon serving with Ricky Herring who is a fellow deacon.

D3 Commissioner Ricky Herring released 5 minutes of an hour conversation with Knight two years ago. And it is obvious what Herring released had been poorly edited. Not releasing the full tape shows the lies and deceit the Houston County Commission is doing.

THIS COUNTY IS WATCHING DEACON RICKY HERRING. 

I submit to you that Taylor Knight has shown more integrity, honesty, and wanting the best for the hospital and community then anyone on the Houston County Commission.

BRANDON SHOUPE IS MISLEADING THIS COUNTY 

The Chairman of the Houston County Commission says the Houston County Commission can not sell the hospital. Partially true.

The hospital board can recommend to the "appointing authority" of the board, which is currently the Houston County Commission. And then the Houston County Commission can authorize the sell of the hospital. The Houston County Commission wants you to vote YES to change the appointment process and then they can stack the Hospital Board to get what they want. Which could allow them to sell the hospital.

Chairman Brandon Shoupe and D3 Ricky Herring does not tell you that part.

Now I did not bring Memphis Baptist Church into this issue. D3 Ricky Herring did and the Pastor has with a sermon of October 26, 2024, evening service.

Chairman Shoupe said today "TRANSPARENCY" on the $7.4 million of property taxes Southeast Health gets. What he does not say is this was voted on and passed by the registered voters of Houston County in 1949, and the Hospital Board can not collect more than 4 mills, which is $10 a year on $100,000 of homesteaded property.

The utility bill for Southeast Health is around $3.3 million per year. The salaries for 3,000 employees of Southeast Health, without benefits, is estimated around $232.8 million per year. So the $7.4 million in property taxes will not operate the hospital but for a few days. And $25 million in indigent care is written off. So Chairman Brandon Shoupe does not tell the truth.

And for the record, I am not buddies with the CEO and we do not care for each other. So this article is not written about protecting him or any board member. But Chairman Brandon Shoupe, D3 Commissioner Ricky Herring and the other commissioners are LIARS and attempting a power grab. They are not being honest at all and their actions will negatively impact healthcare in Houston County.

The registered voters are urged to vote NO on all local amendments on November 5.

Brandon Shoupe spoke about transparency today. A PAC has been hired by a group that Chairman Brandon Shoupe is involved in. A professional campaign agency who runs surveys getting people’s votes. Shope admitted making a donation but with his transparency he talks about, he said he knew who formed the PAC but refused to disclose. DISHONESTY ... transparency???

Ladies and Gentleman, this is the worse group of commissioners since 1977 that I have been around. Some claim to be so holy but are lying to you and not telling the truth. And willing to sacrifice their church and fellow deacons over this issue in an attempt to just grab power.
