I worked at AAA Cooper Transportation from 1990-2005 I left there to help run our business S&S Closets, which we had to close in 2009 due to the economy! I worked with some great people at ACT that I still call friends! One of the bosses at the time I was there was a man name Charles Coggins. This man appeared to be a scary man but he really wasn’t. He had a heart of gold! He was on the board of Wallace Community College and was able to award my oldest son, Brandon with a 100% Presidential Scholarship then he was able to transfer to Troy University to finish his degree! Then when Brady was a Freshman at Auburn and in the AUMB he had a chance of a lifetime to go to China with the band. The only way he could was to raise enough money for his trip because we had lost everything and couldn’t afford it. Brady wrote a letter and I sent it out to people asking for donations. Charles Coggins being an avid Bama fan gave Brady $500 toward his trip. Charles called me a few weeks after that and asked me if we had raised all the money and I told him no we still needed $700. He said I will call you back soon. He did, he called me and told me that someone he knew was going to pay the rest of the balance. I of course asked who it was and he said he wanted to remain anonymous. That was the kind of man Charles was! I tried to stay in touch with Charles over the years, even after he moved to North Alabama but the last time I talked to him, he didn’t even know who I was, he had gotten dementia. I just wanted to share this little story because I will always remember this kind man! Charles passed away this afternoon! RIP Charles E Coggins! ??

Charles was my boss at AAA COOPER. Serous on the outside but good hearted and kind on the inside. Great servant to our community. RIP.
