DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:

Nov. 4: Travis Parks, 44, of Slocomb, was the driver of the vehicle, according to law enforcement.

Nov. 3, 04:15 AM    This article is written at 08:07 AM on Sunday morning.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, the Command Staff and Deputies from Houston County Sheriff Department, ALEA - Trooper and ALEA - SBI are on the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the 2300 block of Ross Clark Circle. The ALEA - Trooper Traffic Homicide Unit is on the scene investigating the accident.

The Houston County Coroner's Office has just arrived. One confirmed fatality.

The UNCONFIRMED preliminary details, around 4:00 AM (plus or minus on time) received a call of a stolen gold Toyota Camry from around the 1100 block of Ross Clark Circle. The 1100 block of Ross Clark Circle is near East Main and Ross Clark Circle.

UNCONFIRMED details Houston County Sheriff Deputies spotted the vehicle and activated their blue lights and siren behind the suspect vehicle. The person "in front of" the blue lights makes THE decision to put their life and the lives of others in danger when they stop. The Houston County Sheriff Deputies were doing their job and pursued the vehicle when the driver refused to stop.

The chase continued on Ross Clark Circle towards to Highway 231 South. The chase continued on Ross Clark Circle to the NAPA Store (old Boot Barn) and left the right side of the roadway.

After the Camry left the right side of the roadway it traveled along the side of the roadway. Around the tire place next to Subway ran under a semi trailer that was parked.  The gold Toyota Camry ran completely under the parked semi trailer.

The driver was killed.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza requested ALEA - Troopers investigate the accident. That made the accident investigation independent of the Sheriff Department. Technically this is not a crash incident because it was an intentional criminal act of the suspect running from law enforcement.

Dothan Police Department was not involved in the chase.
