Town of Black In Geneva County Opens Doors To Those Forced Out From Hurricane

BLACK COMMUNITY - INCORPORATED TOWN - IN GENEVA COUNTY:      



The Town of Black and our wonderful volunteers will offer a shelter for people evacuating from Florida. We have limited space for Max of 50 people.


The Town of Black is located off Highway 167 between Hartford and the Alabama - Florida line before you leave Alabama and enter into the State of Florida.



Shelter will be at Black's Community Center,


588 Curtis Street


Black, Alabama 



Shelter Open from .....


Tuesday(10/8) at 5pm - Sunday noon



We are approximately 18 miles from I-10, Bonifay Florida Exit.


The closest restaurants are 7-8 miles away.



Please Bring medicine, toiletries, pillows, blankets, and food/ snack items.



Limited cots- reserved for elderly


We will have  temporary wifi set up and TV.



°Every adult will be required to show ID and sign in


° the only animals allowed inside the building will be true service animals (all other animals must remain outside on a leash/ in the vehicle or crated)


° No Smoking or Vaping in the building


° NO ALCOHOL, ILLEGAL DRUGS, INAPPROPRIATE MATERIALS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY!



The Volunteer Captains have the right to refuse entry into the shelter or if issues arise,  they can ask you to leave the property!
