COWARTS:    12:35 PM   Houston County 911 dispatched Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Ashford Rescue and Cowarts Volunteer Fire to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.


The location is Highway 84 East and Forrester Road in Cowarts.


Houston County Sheriff Sgt. McKinney was first on the scene. Deputy McKinney reported a hit and run. The vehicle was last seen east bound on Highway 84, east bound. A charcoal gray Tahoe.


Cowarts Volunteer Fire reported a subject laying in the roadway, injured. Ashford Rescue almost on the scene. The patient is conscious and talking. 


12:38 PM     A citizen called into Houston County 911 and was behind the suspect vehicle on Edgar Smith Road. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned left on Rainbow Road.


12:40 PM    The citizen following lost visual. Multiple law enforcement, Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Ashford Police, Cottonwood Police and ALEA - Troopers are aggressively searching for the suspect vehicle.


ALEA - Troopers will be responsible for the investigation of the accident.

Ashford Rescue has left the scene transporting the victim, emergency, to a Dothan hospital. The on scene Houston County Sheriff Deputy thinks the pedstrian striking might not have been intentional.


ALEA - Trooper Spencer Adkinson is responding to the scene.


12:56 PM   Cowarts Volunteer Fire Department has returned to service.
