HOUSTON COUNTY:     4:13 PM    ALEA - Trooper was after a vehicle which fled. Houston County Sheriff Department and additional ALEA - Troopers are in the area.


The area is focused on Highway 231 South, Smithville Road, Iris Road area.


Multiple law enforcement seen with rifles and searching the area. UNCONFIRMED reports the car was found abandoned in a field.


Unknown at this time what the ALEA Trooper was after the vehicle for.


Make sure, first, all doors are locked and keys out of your cars and equipment. DO NOT open the door for anyone that you do not know. And if you see anything, and it is an emergency call 911, or non emergency call the Houston County Sheriff Department non emergency number 334-677-4808.

The law enforcement officers called off the search. The suspect has not been apprehended.


The original intent of the traffic stop was an expired tag. After the vehicle was located and person identified, it was determined the driver had an expired driver license.


If the person had stopped then he would have gotten a traffic citiation for each of the two offenses. Now the subject will have felonies.


And how stupid can a person be? They flea leaving their vehicle of which law enforcement can trace who was on the vehicle and obtain arrest warrants on the person.
