BARBOUR - HENRY - KINSEY - DOTHAN - HOUSTON - GENEVA - SLOCOMB - HARTFORD:    3:08 PM     Barbour County Sheriff Tyrone Smith contacted Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship about a black Tahoo with Georgia license that Barbour County Sheriff Department had been in pursuit of.

The vehicle was impersonating a police officer.

Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship, from the water searching for the missing person, rolled Henry County Sheriff Deputies.

The suspect hit Highway 431 off Highway 10, southbound on Highway 431. Henry County Sheriff Deputies engaged with the suspect vehicle on Highway 431 and Highway 10. With lights and siren on the Henry County Sheriff units a chase was on.

The suspect vehicle traveled south on Highway 431. Headland Police attempted to intercept. Sheriff Blankenship, from the water, notified Kinsey Police Chief Jim Mock the chase was headed his direction. Kinsey Police Corporal Waybright engaged in the chase and had attempted spike strips.

Houston County Sheriff Department and Dothan Police engaged in the chase.

2:29 PM  The suspect reached Highway 431 and Ross Clark Circle turning right onto Ross Clark Circle. The suspect passed Twitchell and Ross Clark Circle. The suspect crossed onto the wrong side of Ross Clark Circle and about Cherokee Avenue and Ross Clark Circle. At that point the suspect crossed back onto the correct side of Ross Clark Circle.

The chase continued on Ross Clark Circle, through Montgomery Highway and Ross Clark Circle.

2:31 PM   At West Main and Ross Clark Circle the vehicle turned west. Dothan Police had units setting up at John D. Odom Road and West Main with spikes but the suspect turned left onto Honeysuckle off West Main Street.

ALEA Troopers were joining the chase and running parrell west of the chase.

The 911 centers instructed units to watch for cross fire, the suspect is reported to have fired shots at law enforcement during the chase.

2:33 PM  The chase continued on Honeysuckle, crossing Fortner Street to Highway 52, then turning right onto Highway 52, traveling west towards Geneva County.

Dothan Police backed off some, Houston County Sheriff Department and Henry County Sheriff Department as primary with ALEA Troopers joining and still ALEA Troopers running parrellel.

2:36 PM  The suspect was still traveling west on Highway 52 passing Highway 605 at Brannon Stand.

The suspect passed Horn Road intersecton to Highway 52.

2:38 PM   The supect vehicle was coming into Malvern on Highway 52.

2:39 PM   The suspect vehicle was still west bound on Highway 52 passing Firecracker Road.

The suspect vehicle kept crossing into the eastbound lanes of traffic. The suspect appeared to be holding his left arm out the window with what appeared to be a cell phone.

2:42 PM  The suspect vehicle was coming into Slocomb, still west bound on Highway 52. The suspect vehicle was a Black Tahoe with Georgia license plates.

Off duty ALEA Trooper Jenson and another ALEA Trooper were set up on the square in Hartford with spike strips. The suspect had attempted to avoid the stop strips on earlier occassions so the ALEA Trooper's attempted to position where impossible for the suspect to avoid.

2:48 PM   The suspect is in Hartford, west bound, passing Tate's Supermarket about to approach the ALEA Troopers.

2:49 PM   The ALEA Troopers apparently made a successful spike, but also spiked a Houston County Sheriff Deputy. The suspect vehicle slowed to about 40 miles per hour and continued west.

Geneva County Sheriff Deputies were assisting and Geneva Police Chief Pepper Mock and Geneva Police were east bound on Highway 52 from Geneva if suspect made it past Hartford. Houston County Sheriff Captain James Ivey was traveling on Highway 123 towards Hartford to be in a position if the suspect turned towards Wicksburg from Hartford.

After the suspect hit the spikes and speeds slowed down, and it was safe to do so, a Houston County Sheriff Deputy made a successful pit in Hartford

2:50 PM   The combined law enforcement officers were able to take the suspect, a white male, into custody.

Reports are the suspect also pulled a weapon on a Houston County Sheriff Deputies mother in Abbeville making threats towards law enforcement. At this time, UNCONFIRMED, do not beleive the suspect knew the lady was the mother of a law enforcement officer.

ALEA Troopers were notified of the chase at 2:23 PM.

Everyone safe and no injuries. The suspect who apparently wanted a battle with law enforcement was taken into custody without any law enforcement officers getting hurt.

While ALEA Secretary and Governor Kay Ivey's cabinet received a 30% salary spike. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has termed out and cannot seek re-election.

The ALEA Secretary now makes $ 242,760.00 a year which is up 39% from what started in November 2021.

But it was the low paid ALEA Troopers and other law enforcement officers, with outdated radio equipment and equipoment period, who placed their lives on the line to take this person into custody.

But MEE MAW does not reward them...

Get this... Barbour County Sheriff radio system can not talk to Henry County Sheriff radio system, which is a UHF digital operated on the SCI Way radio system in Dothan.

Neither agency can talk with ALEA Troopers who operate on the same system they had in 1977 when I started.

Houston County Sheriff Department operates on a UHF digital system through S & P Communications in Opp. They can not talk with Henry County, even though both are UHF systems.

Dothan Police are on a P25 system. Dothan Police Chief Will Benny did enable a patch where Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Department can talk. Some ALEA Troopers have Houston County Sheriff portables that can talk with Houston County.

Houston County Sheriff Department has the ability on the console in communications that would allow patch, just no one will set it up because that would take THINKING!

Geneva County operates on a VHF Digital, opposite of Houston County, through S & P Communications in Opp. Their system will not talk to Houston County, ALEA Troopers or Dothan Police.

There is a simple solution but until a law enforecment officer gets killed the leaders have their heads up their buttocks.

The State of Alabama has a law passed by the Southern Company they can only use Southern Links.

In 24 hours this problem could be fixed, SIMPLY, by heads being removed from buttocks!!! But until the leaders, to include MEE MAW, gets a officers blood on their hands, it will remain unfixed. The law enforcement will remain low paid, not get 39% raises, and not have sufficient equipment.

The key is COMMUNICATIONS!!!!!

UPDATED @ 8:54 PM

From WDHN via Hartford Police, the suspect in the chase has been identified as Brandon Ellison Bond of Georgia.

The suspect also attempted to run over a Hartford Police Officer who was attempting to place spikes out.

Suspect faces criminal charges from Barbour County, Henry County, Houston County, and Geneva County. A very great possibility he WON'T be home for Christmas!!!
