BARBOUR COUNTY: Barbour County 911 dispatched emergency units to a multi vehicle, multi patient vehicle accident, Highway 431 near the Alabama Rest Area and County Road 40.
At the time of dispatch responding emergency units were advised there were at least six ( 6 ) patients that required EMS treatment. Survival Flight was auto launched to the accident. Abbeville Fire-Rescue was mutual aid requested to the scene as well Baker Hill Fire – Rescue and Eufaula Fire – EMS. Additional air units were dispatched to the scene. Barbour County Sheriff Deputies and ALEA – Troopers were dispatched.
It is unknown the exact cause of the accident. Two helicopters from Survival Flight flew in and transported the most critical patients. The other patients were ground transported to Medical Center – Barbour.
ALEA – Troopers are in charge of the accident investigation.

White Oak Volunteer Fire Department was never paged to this accident. This department is right at the accident scene. There were multiple requests to respond White Oak Volunteer Fire but someone dropped the ball.
