HOUSTON COUNTY – CHATTAHOCHEE RIVER:    03:38 AM.     Houston County 911 was notified of some fisherman who had not returned home on schedule.

The reports are they weren’t fishing about 4 PM on Saturday and were to return at 9:00 PM. They had launched at Ommusse Creek Park off Highway 95 near Columbia.

Houston County Sheriff Deputies responded. Houston County Rescue, which specializes in water related incidents was also dispatched.

WASP ( Wiregrass Aviation Support Program ) helicopters were launched to fly the River.

Not long after the WASP Helicopter went into the air land crews made contact with the boater. They were making their way in.

Unknown reason for the delay but the important things is they have been found safe.

WASP ( Wiregrass Aviation Support Program ) is law enforcement dedicated aircraft with specialized equipment. The aircraft is available for special emergency details and sponsored by several agencies. It it’s a very important asset used to combat crime from the air and search missions such as these missing boaters.

Thanks to all involved and for the vision that birthed the WASP Program.
