DOTHAN: 04:30 AM Dothan 911 dispatched a burglary in progress on Riveredge Parkway in Dothan. Riveredge Parkway runs off John D. Odom Road and is in a horshoe loop with a south and north entrance off John D. Odom Road.
Within 1 minute or so of dispatch, at 4:30 AM in the morning, a Dothan Police Patrol Officer was on Riveredge Parkway and had entered from the south entrance. As the Dothan Police Patrol Officer approached the residence the officer observed a white Toyota Camry leaving the driveway. The officer followed the vehicle while other officers were seconds behind and went to the residence. The Dothan Police Patrol Officer made a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle and it stopped without incident.
Dothan Police Patrol that went to the residence reported what “appeared” to be pry marks on the garage door. The officers checked the residence for additional suspects. There were multiple officers on the scene and by 5:00 AM most returned to service other than the primary officer. A wrecker was called for the suspect vehicle.
At this time it is unknown if a burglary attempt actually took place. What we do know is (1) Dothan Police, at 4:30 AM were on the scene within like 1 minute (2) observed the suspect vehicle leaving the place of occurence (3) Dothan Police Patrol safely stopped the suspect vehicle on Riveredge Parkway (4) within minutes of the call hitting 911 other officers were at the place of occurence (5) the suspect vehicle was towed from the scene.
So when you question the preventive patrol and working of the Dothan Police Department, this is an example of the promptness that a officer was on the scene in the far north area of Dothan within 1 minute of dispatch at 4:30 AM in the morning.
When we find out the final outcome, which might be Monday morning, we will update.
