BARBOUR COUNTY AL:     06:35 AM     Early this morning recovery teams recovered the body of a man who drowned last evening.

At White Oak Creek State Park the body of Byron Haney of Athens, Alabama was recovered.

Preliminary reports are that last evening Haney went into the water to retrieve the boat that drifted off the bank. At that time Haney drowned.

White Oak Volunteer Fire Department, Baker Hill Rescue other agencies to include divers from Houston County Rescue, Barbour County Sheriff Deputies, and Barbour County Coroner Chip Chapman were on the scene very early this morning. The body was recovered.

Information that possibly Mr. Haney tripped when he went to get his boat and the water was deeper than he expected.

In the original article we listed Eufaula Fire Department on the scene. They WERE NOT on the scene. White Oak Volunteer Fire Department and Baker Hill Rescue along with Houston County Rescue Unit Dive Team were on the scene.
