MIDLAND CITY:       08:09 AM     Ozark – Dale County 911 dispatched a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle, Highway 231 near Alpha Street (Dale County Road 75) in Midland City. This is north of Dale County Road 10 intersection with Highway 231.

On the scene, Midland City Volunteer Fire, ECHO Fire – Rescue, Midland City Police, ALEA – Troopers, Dale County Sheriff Deputies.

The northbound lane of Highway 231 was closed.

Midland City Police Chief has requested ALEA – Troopers Traffic Homicide unit and ALEA – SBI to respond.

This is a fatality. The person was on a bicycle and has been here for an extended period of time. The person has no identification on him. There person was off the roadway towards the ditch. No one stopped after striking the subject.

Dale County Coroner John Cawley has been called to the scene. Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum is on the scene.

The deceased’s family has been notified. Authorities have not released his name at this time. The body was found this morning by a person riding a bicycle this morning.

The accident happened sometime after 8:30 PM last evening. Anyone with information please call 334-774-5111, Ozark – Dale County 911 for Midland City Police.

The victim as 53-year-old Troy L. Williams of Midland City. He was 53 years old. He’s being sent for an autopsy.
