OZARK – ANDALUSIA: There has been a lot of talk, comments and more concerning the Ozark – Andalusia football game last Friday night in Andalusia.
In the third quarter there was a fight on the football field. Last night I watched the video and waited on a article until this morning when I could watch the video a second time. There is conflict concerning the Ozark Football Coach, Steve McClendon, who ran onto the field when the fight took place.
Andalusia jersey’s are black and Carroll’s are white. It is clear in the video the Andalusia football player was the aggressor in his attach of the Carroll football player. Ref’s threw flags, which a flag will not stop a fight at all. The Andalusia coach did not go onto the field which the Carroll coach did.
YEARS AGO players always respected the coach. He could get attention. Seeing his player attacked and then begin fighting back, apparently Carroll Coach McClendon felt he needed to get the fight stopped. And that is what Coaches are suppose to do.
He did not “strike” a player but did push a player attempting to stop the action on the field of the fight.
The announcer said the “thugs” needed to return to Ozark. Now the announcer is from Andalusia. But what the announcer failed to realize, from watching the video, the Andalusia player initiated contact in a fight, not a football play. Therefore, who is teaching thug mentality? Andalusia or Ozark.
Does a leader run “into” the behavior and attempt to stop it or does a leader “stand by” and watch it? Our answer is a leader stops it.
