HEADLAND:      On Thursday Alabama State Representative Rick Rehm and RC & D hosted a hamburger and hotdog cook out at Douglas Park for First Responders.

Members of Headland Police Department, Headland FIre – Rescue, Headland Mayor Jody Singleton, Newville Police, Abbeville Police, Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship and members of Henry County Sheriff Department, Henry County Emergency Management, some volunteer fire departments to include Shortville Volunteer Fire Chief were present.

Representative Rehm had to go backs set up for agencies to carry some food back to the ones working who could not attend.

Rehm told the first responders how much he appreciates and supports each of them for the work they do. Often times the first responders are not appreciated as much until the actual emergencu takes place. And that came to play during the luncheon. All of a sudden Headland Police, Headland Fire – Rescue, and Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship and members of Henry County Sheriff Department all of a sudden took off, lights and siren, from the park. The call came in about the person on Henry County 45 which was found with a gunshot wound. The first responders rolled, Headland Fire – Rescue provided care for the patient, they picked up flight medics with Survival Flight and transported the victim to Southeast Health. The last reports were he was in surgery. There is no reported foul play involved.

While showing appreciation the true life dedication was a reality when the call hit and they rolled.
