DOTHAN: 4:03 PM. Dothan 911 dispatched a fire alarm at 3038 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan’s Fairfield Inn. The initial reports at dispatched was a second floor pull station, smoke and heat.
Shortly after dispatch responding units were advised there was a out of town volunteer fireman on the scene who reported there was an actual fire on the second floor of the motel.
Dothan Fire Engine 10 ( West Main Street ), Engine 3 ( Whatley Drive ), Engine 2 ( Lakewood ), Truck 3 ( Whatley Drive ), Rehab Truck, and Battalion 2 ( Jack Wood ) responded. Dothan Fire Deputy Chief Pete Webb responded and Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams – who was cutting grass – responded.
On arrival units were directed to the second floor. This was an interior attack, offensive attack. This was a three store, mutual occupants, commercial structure. Smoke was visible on the second floor, no flames reported visible. The water sprinklers activated in three rooms.
Dothan Fire quickly connected to the fire connection on the building and multiple fireman entered the structure. The fireman worked hand in hand with motel management in a room to room check and evacuation. Once everything was determined under control, and everyone in the motel was accounted for and okay, the fire department was able to secure the sprinkler system and stop the water floor into the rooms.
Dothan Fire Prevention Officer responded. Dothan Police and Pilcher Ambulance were on the scene.
Dothan Fire Battalion Chief Jack Wood commanded the scene. Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams responds to all commercial fires if in town.
