HOUSTON COUNTY: Houston County Road and Bridge does not get accident information provided to them across the county. However, Houston County Engineer Barkley Kirkland recently obtained accident information at Third Avenue and Saunders Road.
Engineer Barkley Kirkland has taken a proactive step and crews are in the intersection today re-striping the stop bars and adding rumble strips. Those strips alert drivers of an approaching stop sign, pay attention and STOP.
If the accidents continue, Engineer Kirkland is going to turn that intersection into a four way stop. Kirkland is doing his part to save lives on the Houston County roadways.
