DOTHAN, Ala. — Dispatchers with the Dothan Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office handled a combined total of 1,206 calls for service during a 24-hour period from 5 p.m. Friday, October 9, through 5 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Of those calls, 569 came through the emergency 911 system, highlighting the important role dispatchers play in connecting people with emergency assistance when they need it most.

Behind every call is a team of communications professionals working to gather information, coordinate responses and help ensure officers and other emergency personnel can respond as quickly as possible.

The high volume of calls reflects the demanding work handled by dispatchers, who often serve as the first point of contact for people experiencing emergencies.

Their calm, professional response helps keep the community connected to the assistance it needs, often during some of the most stressful moments in people’s lives.
