DOTHAN – TUSCALOOSA:    This past week Dothan Police Chief Will Benny and Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba traveled to Tuscaloosa Alabama. They met with Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and members of Tuscaloosa Police Department. Some members of Dothan Police Department also attended this meeting which included Dothan Police Lt. Schwab.

They toured and were briefed on the Cyber Intelligence Unit.

Public Safety is the top priority of Mayor Saliba, the members of Dothan Commission and Dothan Police Chief Will Benny.

Recently at a Dothan Commission Meeting D3 Commissioner Bradley Bedwell brought up the Cyber Intelligence Unit and desires for this project to move forward.

Mayor Saliba and Chief Benny have also toured other departments Cyber Intelligence Unit. It is their desire because in the times today law enforcement has to use all tools possible to stay ahead of time.

Under the leadership of Dothan Police Chief Will Benny a lot of proactive tools have been implemented to stay on top of crime. Some challengers of incumbents on Dothan Commission have said crime is out of control which is false statement. Crime is actually down. Also since 2021 Chief Will Benny, with the blessings of former Dothan City Manager Kevin Cowper, current City Manager Randy Morris, Mayor Mark Saliba, Associate Commissioners Kevin Dorsey, Aristotle Kirkland, Bradley Bedwell, John Ferguson, Gant Pearce, and Davis Crutchfield, Dothan Police Department has increased by 50 officers to a force of 200.

Under the current leadership the salary for police officers has increased to retain officers. A police academy at Wiregrass Training Center to train officers locally. And several intelligence systems in place, of which I will not disclose, to help be proactive on crime.

This trip to Tuscaloosa is one of many projects this police chief, this Mayor, this commission has going to protect the citizens in Dothan.
