HENRY COUNTY: 11:48 AM This morning Henry County 911 dispatched Abbeville Fire-Rescue, Abbeville Police, Henry County Sheriff Deputies, Henry County Emergency Management to motor vehicle accident on Highway 431 and South County Road 133.
Henry County 911 also dispatched Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship, who along with his wife were about to stop for lunch. Well, lunch interrupted!
Two Jeeps, both black in color, were traveling on Highway 431. A vehicle passed what he thought was a single Jeep and went to move back to the right lane. The driver did not realize it was two Jeeps. When the driveer moved he struck the other Jeep and off the road they went. The Jeep traveled off the road, jumped County Road 133, struck a fire hydrant, struck the SARDIS Church sign, and struck a LP gas line.
When emergency units arrived they could hear the sound of the LP gas exiting.
The injuries were non life threatening. The fire hydrant did not bust with a lot of water flowing. And the gas company was quick on the scene to plug the leak.
All ended well. But as dispatched, which is the information given to 911 when the call came in, it was ALL HANDS ON THE DECK!!!
All was under control in a short period of time but the Henry County Emergency System worked as designed.
