TROY: A Pike County jury found Tyiesha Pollard guilty of murdering her husband, Quinta D. Maddox, on Wednesday, Oct. 14. Maddox was killed in Troy in September 2023.
According to the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, jurors deliberated for about three hours before reaching their verdict. Pollard is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 12 at the Pike County Judicial Complex.
The case began on Sept. 3, 2023, when Troy police and Troy Fire and Rescue responded to a single-vehicle crash on Pine Street. After removing the driver from the vehicle, first responders discovered he had been shot. The driver was later identified as Maddox.
During the investigation, officers found blood on the ground and bullet marks on the outside wall of a home in the 600 block of Pine Street.
Pollard told investigators that Maddox had attacked her and described a struggle over a gun. However, prosecutors said investigators found no evidence of a fight inside the home and no injuries on Pollard to support her account.
An autopsy determined that Maddox had been shot twice, once in the leg and once in the back. The gunshot wound to his back was fatal.
Prosecutors said the physical evidence did not match Pollard’s account of what happened.
