DOTHAN: 11:25 AM. The Houston County Courthouse steps was the site of a protest.
The group is protesting President Donald Trump his immigration policy.
Signs read allow due process, we have no king, LGBTQ rights on some signs.
As cars pass horns blow and the crowd of protestors cheer. One person was observed yelling from his truck “losers”.
It is feared protestors and anti protestors would clash. Hopefully that would not be the case.
Regardless of people’s position the right to a PEACEFUL protest is a right that men and women have died for.
UPDATED @ 2:03 PM
The protest is winding down. It has been a peaceful protest.
The area “TOP COPS”, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Dothan Police Chief Will Benny, Dothan Police Major Will Glover, Lt. Wozniak and members of both department kept a distant watchful eye.
The goal of law enforcement, which was achieved, was for the citizens to exercise their constitutional right to a “peaceful and orderly” protest. The combined agencies worked together and made sure that happened.
Great job to all agencies involved. That includes Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance. They all plan for the worst and hope for the best. And the best happened with a peaceful expression of feelings.
all anyone could ask for.
