Storm Update
Many people are still without power, but we expect the power companies to make significant progress over the next few days. This storm caused widespread damage to the grid, and crews have been stretched thin working to restore service.
Houston County sanitation customers can now begin putting limbs out. Please place them on the right-of-way, not in the road. Do not mix other debris or household items in with the limbs. If you do, our crews will not be able to pick them up. We also ask for your patience with pickup, as our first priority is reopening the county roads that remain closed.
If you have any unmet needs, please call Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management at 334-794-9720.
All in all, I think Houston County fared well. I’ve been informed of no storm-related loss of life. We had one close call near Trawick Road, but for the most part, the storm left a big mess and a lot of aggravating power outages, but nothing we can’t handle.
