JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. – A 21-year-old Dothan man died in a two-vehicle crash late Monday night in Jackson County, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was a passenger in a car driven by a 22-year-old from Malone, Fla. The car was traveling east on Logan Loop, approaching State Road 71, about a mile northwest of Malone and southeast of the Alabama-Florida state line. At about 11:20 p.m., the driver failed to see a northbound truck towing a loaded cattle trailer on SR 71 and turned left into its path.
The truck, driven by a 68-year-old man from Bascom, Fla., struck the right side of the car. The Dothan man was ejected as the car slid. The truck and cattle trailer jackknifed and slid into a tree.
The Dothan man was pronounced dead at the scene. Both other drivers suffered serious injuries.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Fire Rescue and the Malone Fire Department assisted FHP at the scene.
It was the second crash in three days in Florida to claim the life of a Dothan resident. A Dothan man died Sunday in a crash in Santa Rosa County.
FHP does not release the identities of those involved in traffic crashes.
