CITY OF DOTHAN UPDATE:
Following Hurricane Isaias, the City of Dothan is making temporary changes to collection services as crews focus on clearing storm debris throughout the community.
Here’s what residents need to know:
Regular Trash Collection: Effective Monday, October 12, regular trash collection will be temporarily suspended while crews prioritize storm debris removal. Regular trash collection will resume once storm debris collection is complete.
Trash includes:
Yard waste: leaves, limbs, grass clippings (what we will be focusing on)
Bulk Items: Furniture, appliances, etc (what is temporarily suspended)
Garbage & Recycling: Collection of green carts (garbage) and blue carts (recycling) will continue on their regularly scheduled days.
Separate Green Waste & Bulk Waste: It is extremely important to keep green waste and bulk waste in separate piles. The City anticipates that much of the collected storm debris will need to be burned, and only green waste can be burned. Please keep green waste piles free of bulk waste, household items and all other non-green materials.
Proper separation will help our crews dispose of storm debris safely and efficiently.
We appreciate your patience, cooperation and understanding as our crews work to clear storm debris and restore normal collection services following Hurricane Isaias.
Please share this information to help spread the word throughout our community.
