TAYLOR – COTTONWOOD:    On Tuesday evening the Taylor City Council and Cottonwood Town Council will each meet in their regular scheduled meeting.

Since the last Taylor City Council Meeting, Mayor Robert Lamb has fired newly hired Attorney Trant Bullard. This action by Mayor Lamb came without the knowledge or consent of the members of the Taylor City Council. That will prove interesting on Tuesday.

In addition, the last meeting of Taylor City Council they rejected Magistrate Ann Baxter request to attend Perdido Beach Magistrate Conference. One Magistrate was going. The council was told the money had been sent but the council saw no need for Ann Baxter to attend. The members of the council has already said in a meeting the items need to come to the council before the last minute. Even the council rejected Ann Baxter attending, according to the FACEBOOK of Ann Baxter she went anyway. Some say the council has no authority over the court fund money from which the trip was paid. The corrrect answer is unknown but from what RSN has observed what the members of the Taylor Council say makes no difference anyway. The Mayor and employees do what they want regardless of council members approval or rejection.

Robert Lamb has not been mayor for a year. His first action was to fire Taylor Police Chief James Brazier, which was 30 minutes following the oath of office. The Taylor City Council did not follow their own personnel rules and regulations in that matter. In September, after almost one year, the council voted to terminate Brazier without following Alabama law and their handbook.

Since Lamb has been Mayor the city attorney for Taylor before Bullard no longer represented Taylor. The accounting firm no longer represented Taylor. A employee with Taylor resigned because of allegations of a hostile work enviornmoent created by Lamb when he is alleged to have cussed her out. A Taylor Police Officer left. Lamb has been an embarrassment for the City of Taylor.

In Cottonwood, after Mayor Van Granger received a freedom of information request from Attorney John White who represents Cottonwood Fire Chief Randy Hall, Mayor Granger sent a letter to the son and wife of Chief Hall. Mayor Granger barred Chief Hall’s son and wife from the Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department and Cottonwood City Hall. The reason is they returned the checks paid for gas reimbursement from fire calls because the City Clerk was going around the fire chief’s back requesting a print out of 911 calls. When questioned by Chief Hall different answers were given. All the city had to do was ask Chief Hall and the data would have been supplied. But they went behind the fire chief’s back and started drama.

Hall’s son and wife did not threaten the Mayor, who was with the Cottonwood Police Chief and Cottonwood Police Colonel but told them where they could stick the checks. Mayor Granger has not been able to get over that and removed Chief’s Hall son, a certified fireman from the VOLUNTEER Fire Department and the Chief’s wife from the fire department and city hall.

It will be interesting on Tuesday if the Cottonwood Town Council overrides Mayor Van Granger.

The City of Dothan barred a person from Dothan Civic Center, Following a federal case there was a settlement with the City of Dothan where they paid the man a reported $ 89,000.00 – UNCONFIRMED because a confidential settlement but FACT CHECK ME. So Mayor Granger’s actions has the potential of costing the citizens of Cottonwood a large sum of money.
