DOTHAN: For many families in the Wiregrass, a full pantry shelf can make the difference between worry and a warm meal. The Wiregrass Area Food Bank is asking the community to help by donating money or non-perishable food.
The items needed most are:
Peanut butter
Canned meats, including chicken, turkey, ham and tuna
Canned vegetables, fruits and soups
Pasta, including macaroni and cheese, spaghetti noodles and sauce, and canned pasta meals
Rice
Cereal
Oatmeal, grits and cream of wheat
Boxed dinners
The Food Bank’s member agencies serve people through on-site meals and emergency food boxes. They reach neighbors through church, school and non-profit food pantries, soup kitchens, group homes, assisted living homes, halfway houses, day care centers, senior citizen programs, emergency shelters, neighborhood centers, health care programs, homeless shelters, homebound meal plans and Brown Bag of the Wiregrass.
Donations are tax-deductible. Items and money can be given at the Wiregrass Area Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL 36303. For more information, call 334-794-9775. Donations can also be made online at WiregrassFoodBank.com.
