OPP: From Opp City Schools –
In Loving Memory of a Beloved Educator and Leader
It is with profound sadness that Opp City Schools shares the passing of our former Superintendent, Emily Edgar.
For 37 years, Mrs. Edgar faithfully served Opp City Schools, beginning her career with our district at just 19 years old. Throughout those years, she served in many roles, touching the lives of countless students, families, educators, and community members before concluding her career as Superintendent.
Mrs. Edgar loved Opp City Schools, but even more importantly, she loved the people who make up our schools and our community. She led with dedication, compassion, integrity, and a genuine desire to do what was best for others. She was deeply loved by those who knew and worked alongside her and was highly respected throughout the education community.
Upon her retirement, Mrs. Edgar wrote, “I love this place, and the past 37 years will remain in my heart forever.” Today, we can say with certainty that she will remain in the heart of Opp City Schools forever as well.
Her influence can be seen in the students she served, the educators she encouraged, the leaders she mentored, and the school system she devoted her life to strengthening. Her legacy is woven into the history of Opp City Schools and will continue for generations to come.
We extend our deepest love, prayers, and sympathy to Mrs. Edgar’s family, friends, former colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by her.
Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat!!
Thank you, Mrs. Edgar, for 37 years of service, leadership, friendship, and love for Opp City Schools. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
