ABBEVILLE:
On November 26 at 6:54 p.m., deputies with the Henry County Task Force and S.P.A.D.E. Unit conducted a routine traffic stop on Ozark Road that led to a significant drug seizure.
During the stop, officers recovered approximately 6 grams of methamphetamine, 9 grams of cocaine, 33 grams of synthetic marijuana, 33 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of THC wax, and U.S. currency.
Authorities arrested 42-year-old Willie Carter Jr. of Abbeville. He is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute (Cocaine), three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine, Synthetic Marijuana, THC Wax), and Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree. Carter was transported to the Henry County Jail, where he is being held with no bond.
Following the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at an apartment in Girard Court, where the investigation remains active. Officials say additional charges and arrests are expected.
“We’re going to continue to take a proactive approach on keeping drugs off our streets. I want to commend the officers on their hard work. While most people are getting ready for the holiday tomorrow, we are still out there working to keep our community safe,” Sheriff E.B. Ricks said.
Further updates will be released as the investigation develops.
