NEW BROCKTON: At the invitation of New Brockton Mayor Charles “Chuck” Schieffer and members of New Brockton Town Council, Alabama State Senator Josh Carnley and Alabama State Represenative Rhett Marques gave a 2025 Legislative update.
Enterprise Mayor William ( Bill ) Cooper, Elba Mayor Tom Maddox, Coffee County Commissioners Sonny Moore and Clint Grantham, Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd and New Brockton Police Chief Dale Grimes were all in attendance, as was several citizens.
In an extremely relaxed setting, not in a hurry, Senator Carnley and Representative Marques gave a detailed summary of the 2025 Alabama Legislative Session. They took time and answered ever ones questions truthfully and honestly. One of the best summaries and detailed answers RSN has seen.
They explained the 2026 election dates of county and state officials was moved because of Memorial Day weekend. It will be held earlier in May 2026. The reason given the election was May 26, which is the Tuesday following Memorial Day. Some people are out of town. The Probate Officials have to set up the machines before election day and this change will better serve the registered voters.
A lot of great discussion and explanation.
