Barbara Carmichael, age 77, died in a fire at her home on Rose Avenue in Hartford and will be transported to the Alabama Department of forensic science for an autopsy. The fire is under investigation by the Alabama Fire Marshal.
SCENE INFORMATION:
The body of Ms. Carmichael was reported to have been found this afternoon. The fire is expected to have possibly taken place during the night. The fire was contained to the residence and investigation reveals possibly extinguished due to lack of oxygen.
Family had attempted to contact Ms. Carmichael this afternoon. When calls were unsuccessful, family went to check on her. That is when the fire and her subsequent death were found.
Alabama State Fire Marshals, Hartford Police Department, Geneva County Coroner and Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences are investigating.
