DALE COUNTY: On Tuesday at approximately. 7:30 AM Dale County Sheriff Deputies responded to the area of County Road 113 in Ariton in reference to a possible wreck with injuries. In an attempt to locate the vehicle, a Deputy was flagged down by an individual who was determined to be the driver ( victim ) of the vehicle located near County Road 113. While the male and female were traveling down County Road 113, there was a vehicle stationary in the roadway. As they approached the vehicle, the vehicle accelerated and hit their vehicle where it knocked both vehicles off the roadway. Both victims victims attempted to flee the area on foot, where the female was forced into the suspect’s vehicle into the suspect’s vehicle by gunpoint and fled the scene.
During the investigation, investigators learned that the suspect was at his residence on Copperhead Road in Clio. With the assistance from Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, Dale County located the suspect and female victim at his residence. The victim had apparent non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The suspect was transported to Dale County Sheriff’s Office to be interviewed.
The suspect, Shane Carpenter, age 55 of Clio was arrested for Kidnapping 1st, Assault 2nd, Criminal Michief 1st, and Assault 2nd. Carpenter was booked into the Dale County Jail.
The investigation is on-going.
