Amanda “Mandy” Nicole Morrow

May 9, 1979 – July 19, 2025

Amanda Nicole Morrow, lovingly known as “Mandy,” was born on May 9, 1979, in Tampa, Florida, to James Telmadge and Elizabeth Eaton Morrow. She was the beloved older sister of Ashley Morrow Solomon.

Mandy’s family moved to Ashford, Alabama, just before she entered the seventh grade at Ashford High School. While there, she joined the choir and proudly performed every Friday night with the “Sound of the Wiregrass” marching band as a member of the color guard team. She graduated with the Class of 1997—just barely missing a visit from the truancy officer thanks to a strong case of senioritis, which she wore like a badge of honor.

Mandy was a creative soul who found peace in art—whether it was drawing, coloring, or making videos. Her hospital rooms later in life were adorned with her artwork, proudly hung by her sister and often admired by doctors and nurses. She also had a deep love for music, a gift she eagerly passed on to her nephew, Zed, even teaching him to sing “Her Majesty” by The Beatles when he was just three years old. Her favorite words were “Hey Aunt Mandy!”—a title she embraced with unmatched devotion. Though terrified of bugs, she was a great sport when Zed teased her with his latest creepy crawly find.

Mandy was also a fierce advocate for missing persons, driven by her own personal connection to the cause. She and her sister Ashley spent years working to bring awareness to their beloved Papa, James Aaron Toole’s disappearance, ultimately helping bring him home in September 2023.

She found deep fulfillment working in the HR department at Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center, where she helped people with disabilities find meaningful employment. She held her colleagues, especially Emily and Chris, in the highest regard and was thrilled to return to work, even briefly, this year.

Mandy shared her life with her boyfriend of 11 years, Joey Deese. The two enjoyed traveling, attending concerts, and cheering on their favorite sports teams. Mandy also loved being part of Joey’s son Pierce’s life and celebrated his milestones with genuine joy.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Telmadge Morrow; her Papa, James Aaron Toole; Granny, Annie Wise Hudson; Grandmother Elizabeth Barber and Pops, Claude Washington Eaton.

She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth “Libby” Morrow; her sister, Ashley Morrow Solomon; her brother-in-law, John Solomon V; her favorite person in the world and nephew, John Zedilious Solomon VI (Zed); her boyfriend, Joey Deese; Joey’s son, Pierce Deese; and her loyal dog, LJ. She is also survived by seven aunts and uncles, 20 first cousins, and many second cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mandy’s memory to Team Watters, an organization she deeply supported, at https://teamwatterssonar.com/donate/, in honor of her beloved Papa, James Aaron Toole.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, August 2nd, at 3:00 p.m., at Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center—Sterling Event Center, 2461 E. Burdeshaw Street, Dothan, AL 36303
