Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Monday was born November 12, 1940 in Houston County, Alabama, the son of the late Ross and Inez Snellgrove Monday. He was a graduate of Cottonwood High School, where he lettered in football.

He married Sara Taylor on February 10, 1961, which led to a love story that lasted over 64 years. He worked at Colonial Bakery and later started working at Southside Auto and Truck Repair for over 40 years where he was a mechanic and later became the owner.

His life revolved around his family. Whether playing softball, fishing, coaching sports, or attending sporting events, the family was always involved. He was passionate about his yard. He took great pride in making sure they were neat and manicured and the flowers were blooming and bright with Sara’s input. Affectionately known as “Pops,” he loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandson.  They loved to visit with Nana and Pops and ride the Jeep or golf cart.

After retirement, golf and vacationing with Sara became his passion. They took trips all over the US with church groups and friends. He played all around the Southeast, but primarily at Roundabout in Cowarts. He played hundreds of rounds there with his buddies and Greg-usually coming out on top.

Above all and most importantly, he was a Christian man who loved the Lord, his wife and his family. Nothing came ahead of family; and he set an example for all to follow and gave all he had to make their lives better.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Ralph Monday, Billy Monday, Chuck Monday, and sister, Hazel Holland.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Taylor Monday, son, Greg Monday (Cindy), daughter, Angie Monday Butler, brother, Roy Monday, grandchildren; Alisha Butler, Garrett Monday, Amber Butler Taylor, Trenton Monday, and great-grandson Ethan Butler.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund in Memory of Mr. Robert Earl Monday.
